CATCH & RELEASE (2017)
Skin & Bark. Stone & Wood. Me & Us....
IN THIS MILLENNIUM we are making our way back to what we once knew. This film explores the in-body knowledge that we've lost and found again: centering interconnectedness, the natural and feminine. This knowledge lives in a constant state of flux that we have to bring ourselves back to time and time again.

‘Han’ (한) is titled after a Korean cultural concept that has no English equivalent. Frequently translated as sorrow, spite, rancour, regret, resentment, or grief; These words are inadequate in accurately describing the full scope of “Han”. It is an inherent characteristic of the Korean identity and as such, finds expression, implied or explicit, in nearly every aspect of Korean life and culture. “Han” is sorrow caused by suffering, injustice, or persecution, it is mourning for a stolen history, it is a grief that lingers... but yet, there is still hope.
The film explores an evolution of "Han" that has emerged from the spreading Korean diaspora, and how it influences the identity of new generations through ritual, grief, and mourning.
